I had moved 15 times by the time I turned 23, so I find it pretty amazing that I currently live two blocks away from the house where my maternal grandparents were living when my mom was born. Charming house, isn't it?
And, I am three blocks away from where my paternal grandparents met. He was a boarder, and she was a daughter of the family that rented out rooms to university students. This is their double wedding (my grandmother and her sister were the brides), held in 1933. (The picture was ispired by Dear Photograph -- a fun place to visit.)

Your home is charming, indeed! And I love that vintage photograph! What a sweet coincidence that finally brought you so close to your family history. I'm also a huge fan of Dear Photograph, by the way, it's in my blogroll. Great post.
ReplyDeletevery nice home, and nice story
ReplyDeletehappy corner day
a beautiful house. I like wooden houses with a veranda in front. great that there is a family remembrance.
ReplyDeleteLovely house. I like the dear Photograph idea and the story behind it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful, quaint house---looks like you have plenty of room! It's wonderful that you know the story of your grandparents and have photos. I just realized I don't have a clue how either of my grandparents met! I never thought to ask either parent---I'm feeling like that was a "duh!"
ReplyDeleteHi, all. Sorry about the confusion. The top picture was my grandparents' house in the 1940s, not my current house.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite amazing, but then again, life is a circle more than a straight line.
ReplyDeleteFrancesca took my comment...she really did...about the circular nature of it all...

Wonderful . . . I love that you moved around so much and then, eventually, you found yourself back home again. I too have moved around a lot - but I haven't found myself back in my home-town again - yet! Though we are visiting there next week - for their Heritage Week celebrations. We are going to dress up as Victorians and attend a garden party and a Victorian fete!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful story and very nice wooden house!
